This week I want to present another special gown of mine. It has a label inside that says “Cobaugh, 1060 Rose Building Cleveland”. #1 is written in ink beside the print. It is a black two piece 1905 Sequin Gown in the iconic S curve silhouette shape. This style was quite popular at the time. It has two layers of netting, the first is a dotted Swiss netting. The second layer has tones of sequins all hand sewn onto black netting. The lining is a silk satin. The top has beautiful elbow length net and lace sleeves dripping with sequins and hand sewn silk velvet bow overlay. It has a low sweeping neckline with the three layers of fabric and dimensional sequin and epaulettes accented with beads and tassels. There are parts of the epaulettes that are also woven with horse hair. It has 11 hooks and eye closures and the skirt is a fully gored with a smocked flat front and finely gathered rear waist which flows to an opulent train swirling in ruched floral silk lace, chenille flower accents, silk ribbon bow overlay, and gathered net trim with many amazing sequins sewn in.
Below are pictures of the dress on a dress form.
Stunning beautiful collections!
