Lovely antique 1890s bodice. The fabric is a printed cotton, with alternating brown stripes with white circles, and stripes with floral design in blues and yellows. The front has elaborate gathers and bands and small tassels, with a piece fastening across with hooks going up and around the collar, with another smaller piece fastening back over this piece. The neck and stand collar are in beige silk with lace overlay. Label on the petersham reads, “James Dunlop & Son Stuart Bros Successors Drapers & Costumiers Berwick Upon Tweed.” Paired with one of my antique beige skirts.
